CATL sign agreement with Guangzhou Public Transport Group for smart and green public transit

On May 17, 2024, CATL signed a framework agreement on strategic cooperation with Guangzhou Public Transport Group Co., Ltd. (Public Transport Group), Contemporary Intelligence Technology (Fujian) Ltd. (CITL), Guangzhou Transportation Co., Ltd., and Guangzhou Yimashidai New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. at CATL's headquarters in Ningde, southeast China's Fujian province. 


The agreement outlines cooperation in a variety of areas related to comprehensive battery services, including vehicle electrification, automotive aftermarket services, business model innovation, supply chain finance, and new energy industry talent development. The five parties will jointly explore the deep integration of the automotive and new energy battery service industry chains and promote green and sustainable public transportation and road transportation. The collaboration will ultimately offer the public higher-quality, greener, and smarter mobility services and experiences. 


Guangzhou Public Transport Group is a benchmark in public transportation and road transportation in South China and a pioneer in the field of big data of Internet of Vehicles, and mobility services. Its business encompasses five core segments: urban public transportation, taxi service, modern logistics, smart transportation, and new energy transportation. Its revenue ranks first in the industry in China. Currently, it operates nearly 27,000 vehicles of various types, including buses, taxis, coaches, and logistics trucks, along with 53 vessels and 179 bus charging stations under its management. 


The agreement marks a significant step forward in the green, intelligent, and efficient transition of the public transportation and road transportation sector. CATL will leverage its comprehensive industry chain and leading battery technologies to collaborate with Guangzhou Public Transport Group and the other parties. Together, they will promote the widespread application of new energy battery technology in public transportation and road transport, continuously injecting new impetus into the high-quality development of the transportation sector and the building of a modern integrated transportation system.
